Matthew (Matt) Smith is the founder of M. Smith Tax & Accounting. Matt has experience in a wide array of areas of public accounting, focusing primarily on taxation of closely-held businesses and individuals with complex compliance, consulting, and planning needs.
Matt is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in the states of California and Texas. Over his career he has worked with clients in industries such as consulting, food and beverage, entertainment, professional athletics, heavy machinery and construction, legal and professional, manufacturing, medical and dental, real estate, oil and gas, private equity, retail and wholesale, and transportation. His clients routinely include C Corporations, S Corporations, Partnerships, Individuals, Trusts, and Estates with operations both in the United States and internationally. He has assisted his clients in structuring transactions of all types, both domestically and abroad.
Matt is a graduate of the University of Virginia's McIntire School of Commerce where he received a B.S. in Commerce with concentrations in Accounting and Finance. He also has a Master in Professional Accounting with a concentration in Taxation from the University of Texas at Austin's Red McCombs School of Business.
